You may have noticed that we have recently launched two new Mocha drinks:

Mocha Latte – a smooth chocolaty drink with a slight coffee aftertaste. Perfect for those of you who want a sweeter and less intense coffee.

Mocha Cortado – a rich, creamy chocolate drink with a big hit of coffee. Great for those of you wanting their coffee kick but who also have a sweet tooth.

And what better way to celebrate the launch of our new drinks than by giving you the chance to win something. Yes, you heard correctly. Prizes are on offer!

    What you have to do:

We want to see you enjoying one of our new Mocha drinks (they are so delicious after all!) Visit one of our stores, order the drink, snap an Instagram picture or shoot a Vine clip and share it with us on Instagram, Twitter and Vine by using the hashtag #mochatastic as well as tagging us @costacoffee and @costacoffeeuk on Instagram. Please don’t forget to follow us on one of the accounts. This will make it easier for us to get in touch with you!

When does it start and how long does it go on for:

The competition will launch on 21st March and run for two weeks, ending on April 4th.

    How it works:

We’ll be keeping a close eye on all the images and vine clips you submit and will pick 50 people to win a spot prize (we won’t reveal the prize until the end of the competition period, when we’ll choose our overall favourite and the winner will receive a year’s supply of Costa Coffee). Please keep an eye out for a comment or message from us, because if you miss it, we may have to pass your prize on to a different winner.

So remember the drinks in the pictures must be from our new Mocha range and as always, no offensive pictures or language please.

We are looking forward to seeing all of your lovely creations! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to Tweet us (@costacoffee) or send us a message on Facebook

Our recyclable takeaway cups are products made to an industry standard. We do acknowledge slight differences by ensuring our brand standard recipes take into account the cup size when it comes to the amount of milk and coffee used. This means our customers enjoy the same Costa coffee taste, whether they stay in store or take their drink with them.

As the UK’s favourite coffee shop and one of the success stories on the UK high street, we work closely with planning departments across the country to open new stores for the benefit of their local communities, creating new jobs and providing attractive and popular social meeting places.

Coffee shops are popular meeting hubs for people and bring substantial benefits to surrounding businesses, bringing people into town centres and spending money in the local areas. An estimated 10,000 shops are likely to close in the next couple of years and already, nearly one in six shops stand vacant.  We honestly think that people would rather see a disused building turned into a thriving business and attracting visitors than to remain empty.

When we open in a new location we do all we can to integrate ourselves with the local community, getting involved with events; providing the store as a meeting space and helping with fundraising. If our stores are franchised it’s a local business person who invests their own money into the store - just like independent cafe owners do. If it is a company owned store, our managers treat the Costa as if it were their own, taking a great deal of pride in what they do.  We operate in a number of locations where branded chains coexists happily with independent shops.

We honestly do not think that anyone should see Costa as a threat.  Our offering is very different to local independent coffee shops and we believe that people can and will use both, depending on their needs.

    To the people of Totnes,

We are sending this joint letter from Costa and the offices of the MP and Mayor for Totnes as we felt it was important to outline, together, the outcome of discussions held between us in early October.

Along with other representatives from Totnes, we had an open and constructive discussion. As a result of that discussion Costa has carefully considered the points made, listened and decided that it will not be opening on Totnes High Street.

In making this decision Costa has recognised the strength of feeling in Totnes against national brands and taken into account the specific circumstances of Totnes. Totnes is a town with a long and proud history of independent retailers, it has one of the lowest percentages of branded stores of any town of its size in the UK, very few empty shop fronts, as well as a very high proportion of places selling coffee.

Costa is a successful British business employing over 10,000 people, the majority of whom are under 25 years old. In Devon, Costa has some 19 stores, employs nearly 200 people and sources a large quantity of milk as well as products from local farms and producers across the County. At its heart, Costa cares about what customers want and seeks to be a force for good in the communities in which it operates, contributing to growth, greeting jobs and supporting local projects and activities.

As your MP and Mayor, and speaking on behalf of the people of Totnes, we would like to thank Costa for being prepared to listen to our concerns and showing that they care. We would also like to recognise the valuable contribution that Costa continues to make to communities across Devon.

    Yours faithfully,

    Chris Rogers, Managing Director, Costa

    Dr Sarah Wollaston, MP, Totnes

    Pruw Boswell, Mayor of Totnes
